TOP STORY
🖼️ Figma releases “Edit Image”

New “Erase” feature

This week, Figma released three new AI-powered image editing tools that bring precision editing directly into “Design and Draw,” eliminating the need to jump between external image editors.

The new tools centralize image editing into a single contextual toolbar, making it faster to refine product shots, adapt marketing assets, and polish designs without leaving Figma's canvas.

New “Expand Image” and “Isolate Image” features

With these new tools, you can now:

  • Expand image: Extend image backgrounds to fit new aspect ratios without distortion (perfect for adapting a square hero image to a wide web banner while preserving the main subject).

  • Isolate object: Select and separate any object within an image to edit, move, or resize it independently, enabling you to brighten key product components, apply blur effects, or reposition elements without affecting the background.

  • Erase object: Remove unwanted objects or distracting elements from images with a simple lasso selection (ideal for cleaning up product photography or removing background clutter).

Figma also updated the crop tool with a streamlined two-click workflow, a new slider for precise adjustments, and preserved aspect ratios.

The features are available now in Figma Design and Draw for Full seat users on Professional, Organization, and Enterprise plans with AI enabled. These actions consume AI credits.

3D DESIGN
🔥 Spline releases “3D Shapes”

This week, Spline released "3D Shapes" for Hana, marking the first canvas that combines 3D and 2D design in real-time.

Designers can now convert any vector shape into a 3D model while maintaining full editing capabilities on both layers simultaneously.

Hana is Spline's real-time design canvas that renders pixel-perfect 2D effects, vector shapes, and booleans instantly (similar to Figma or other traditional design tools) but built with a rendering engine capable of handling 3D graphics on the same canvas without sacrificing quality or speed.

With "3D Shapes," you can now:

  • Convert shapes non-destructively: Apply the "3D Shape" effect to any vector to create a 3D model while keeping the original 2D shape fully editable — change colors, fonts, or properties, and the 3D version updates in real-time.

  • Blend 2D and 3D systems: All Hana systems (vectors, booleans, layouts, events) work together, meaning 3D objects follow 2D canvas rules and can receive drop shadows, interactions, and other 2D effects.

  • Design with dynamic layouts: Create 3D text that automatically repositions when layout rules change, or build interactive elements that combine dimensional depth with Hana's existing design capabilities.

The feature is currently in beta and available now for all Hana users.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
🤖 Adobe releases “Photoshop for ChatGPT”

This week, Adobe integrated Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Adobe Acrobat into ChatGPT, making professional creative tools accessible to 800 million ChatGPT users through simple conversational prompts.

The integration removes technical barriers by letting users edit photos, design graphics, and manage PDFs using natural language instead of learning complex software interfaces—all available for free within ChatGPT.

Here's what you can do directly inside ChatGPT:

  • Edit photos with Photoshop: Upload any image and use conversational prompts like "make the people pop in my vacation photo" or "add a retro effect to the background" to apply professional edits, artistic effects, and adjustments with fine-tuning controls.

  • Design graphics with Adobe Express: Create invitations, social posts, or marketing materials by describing what you want — ChatGPT helps you select templates, customize copy, and adjust imagery to match your vision.

  • Manage PDFs with Acrobat: Combine multiple documents into a single PDF, edit text directly, and create professional application packages (resume + cover letter + references) without leaving the chat interface.

To get started, simply mention the Adobe app in your ChatGPT prompt (e.g., "Adobe Photoshop, edit my photo") and follow the connection setup.

After that, all Adobe tools are accessible through conversation 👇
