🎬 Adobe launches new "Video Editor"
The new Adobe Firefly video editor
Last week, Adobe released a new timeline-based video editor that highlights Adobe's continued shift from desktop software to web-based tools, directly competing with CapCut, Canva, Figma, and other browser-first platforms.
Due to high demand, the new Adobe Firefly (Beta) video editor has a waitlist.
Adobe has been gradually releasing web versions of its flagship tools, including “Photoshop on the web” in September 2023 and "Illustrator on the web” starting in 2021.
Adobe Firefly “partner AI models”
The new video editor (currently in private beta) features a multi-timeline interface for combining, trimming, and editing clips, with video generation powered by multiple AI models from Adobe, Google, OpenAI, Luma AI, ElevenLabs, Runway, and others.
With the video editor, you can now:
Generate videos with multiple AI models: Choose from Firefly Video Model, Runway Aleph, Moonvalley Marey, or Veo3 to create footage in different styles, or generate unique transitions between two reference images.
Combine generated and original footage: Edit together AI-generated clips and your own recordings on a flexible multi-timeline interface.
Complete full video production: Trim, rearrange, add titles and captions, and perfect audio without leaving the platform.

🌊 Paper releases “Fluted Glass 2.0”
This week, Paper released "Fluted Glass 2.0," a major update to its popular glass distortion shader that creates realistic light refraction effects for wallpapers, backgrounds, and UI elements.
The update transforms the original Fluted Glass effect with enhanced control and precision, making it easier to create dynamic, glass-like visuals that rival effects typically reserved for 3D rendering software.
Paper is a browser-based design tool that lets you create graphics, backgrounds, and visual effects using shaders, fills, and image compositing—all without coding.
With Fluted Glass 2.0, you can now:
Fine-tune light and depth: Adjust new Highlights and Shadows parameters to control how light interacts with the glass surface, creating more realistic refraction and dimensional depth.
Add texture with Grain: Access a dedicated Grain panel with Mixing and Overlay parameters to add subtle texture and visual interest to glass effects, with improved anti-aliasing for smoother results.
Control distortion precisely: The updated Distortion parameter now extends beyond image boundaries for more dramatic effects, while the Blur parameter naturally softens edges, and a new Stretch option (renamed from "Edges") provides additional shape control.
Adjust margins easily: Margins are now organized in a dedicated collapsible panel for a cleaner workspace.
